JAMES E. BISHOP, SR. With personal sadness yet fullness of Spiritual Joy, we announce our beloved father, James E. Bishop, Sr. has gone to be with the Lord on Thursday, July 12, 2007, at age 91. He was surrounded by family and friends who came in a steadfast stream to share their love and gratitude during the months of his illness. He left an indelible foot print on each of our lives of a life well-lived. Mr. Bishop grew up in Greensboro, N.C. and graduated from N.C. State. Nicknamed "Jetty", he began his flying career with Eastern Airlines during the days of the DC-3's. Flying, fishing, farm building, and family exited his passion all of his days. To each he gave hard work, loyalty and uncompromising honesty. With his wife, Judy, he had one son, Jim Bishop, Jr., and three daughters, Carol Callaway, Linda Hendon, and Judy Bishop, who survive him. Also, living are four natural grandchildren, adopted sons and daughters, and many great grandchildren with whom he shared his heart and home. His spirit was fueled by his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, the giver of life. Each person he met became the center of his interest and focus. His last years were happily spent on his son's farm in his own log cabin in Newnan, GA. He lived for useful service in faithful steps. These added up to a countless treasure which is his legacy in each of our lives. We will miss him so much, but we are proud and happy he is at last living his greatest personal joy. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Redland Baptist Church, 6922 Muncaster Mill Road, Rockville, MD 20855. Please mark for: African Missions. A Celebration of Life Memorial Service will be held on September 23 at 2:00 at Grace Baptist Church, 825 Ebenezer Church Road, Sharpsburg, GA.
